Health-support ministry

We are seeking to begin a new health-support ministry for senior members of the church and our neighborhood. Members of the Health Taskforce are seeking donation for use around the church:Wheelchairs in good repair, Walkers (no wheels, please), Blood-pressure cuffs, Stethoscopes. If you are willing to donate any of these items, please call the church office at 763-537-4576.

NEAR Foodshelf

Near Foodshelf provides good nutrition for children.

We all know that lack of adequate nutrition is a health concern in children.  Children who are not receiving regular and nutritious meals are more likely to be in fair or poor health and have a 30% higher rate of hospitalization.

But did you also know that children who do not know where or when they will next be fed are also at risk in their behavioral or mental health as well? Children from food insecure households display increased anxiety, depression, aggression and lower school performance.  It has even been shown that for 15 & 16 year olds, food insecurity can result in an increase of suicide!To find more about children and food insecurity visit Feeding America.

Servicemen and Women

I asked for strength that I might achieve;
                I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health that I might do greater things;
                I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy;
                I was given poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
                I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
                I was given life that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I had asked for,
                but everything that I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers
        were answered;
                I am, among all people, most richly blessed.

—Prayer of an unknown Confederate soldier
