Recycling isn’t just good for the environment—
it helps people too!
First Lutheran collects and recycles many items that are refurbished and distributed to people in need:
† Old eyeglasses
† Hearing aids and fresh hearing aid batteries
† Watches
† Cell phones
Items turned in for cash and credit for non-profit organizations:
† Kemps milk caps
† Campbell soup labels (and products associated with the label program)
† General Mills box tops and cancelled postage stamps
Don't throw it away; RECYCLE IT!
Bringing recyclable items to the First Lutheran Wecome Center box and help someone in need.
Recycling at First Lutheran
We are now purchasing ‘green’ paper products and cleaning supplies, paper cups which can be recycled, and plan to have mugs available for use in the Community Room by those who wish to use them. We are also using Fair Trade Equal Exchange coffee.
Please make use of the recycling containers located in the following areas (no trash, please).
Narthex: three containers for paper only
Main office: one container for paper only and one for cans and bottles
Staff offices (5): containers for paper only
Sunday school office: container for paper only
Music room: container for paper only
Community room: one container for paper only and one for cans and bottles
Kitchen: One container for cans and bottles
If we are diligent at recycling, our garbage pick-up expenses may be reduced.
Caring for Creation
In view of the command to care for God’s creation, and that the Church needs to model being a good steward, the FLCWomen Ministry Te a.m. recommended to the Church Council, and they agreed, that we, as Church, use as few disposable products as possible. Our larger women’s functions and Senior Ministry already use non-disposable items except for napkins. We will take our time and figure out how to do this as painlessly as possible for as many events as possible. Eventually we would like to have non-disposables for coffee time, but that will take some planning. If anyone has ideas or has seen a method that we could use let me know.
