Council President’s Perspective

“He has the whole world in His hands!” and as followers of Christ we live in His image as His servants. We are His stewards as we prioritize our needs and keep our wish lists visionary and ablaze in our hearts, minds and souls. God gives us abundance as we live in His mercy, grace and love. “Be not afraid for thou art with me.”

You have received a Special Edition newsletter, Focus on the Future at First, sharing with you our purpose, the list of repairs and needs of our church building, the cost including a proposed plan of creative financing, and, of utmost importance, things to ponder and pray about. I personally want to thank each of you for your vested interest and participation in the informational forums we have offered. Open communication and ongoing conversations continue. I encourage you to contact me, Pastor Dave, the Property committee (Dan Hatcher, chair) and/or the Stewardship committee (Jackie Mortenson, chair) with any further questions or comments in preparation for our upcoming congregational meeting. At the time of this printing the date of this meeting is yet to be determined. Plan on attending; “I’ll be there!”

It takes each one of us to make and build a strong foundation for our church and our faith community as we continue to join House of Hope Lutheran and St. James Lutheran in our Bonfire collaboration. It is showing itself to be a wonderful opportunity to provide re-birth of our faith in an abundance of ways as we share with each other a blaze of creativity, respect, courage, experience and wisdom! It is contagious as the fire releases, within each one of us, an abundance of energy to go forth in continuing to bring three congregations together to share in our ministries and dreams, which we witness as bearing fruits through the labors and the love of God’s people.

Thank you for your warm welcome as your President and for your support as we continue our faith walks together as visionaries. I commend you for your ability to look into the future as well as into yourselves. It takes energy and courage to look “inside” and to take responsibility for the shifts and changes that are happening to strengthen our future! If we choose to “own” it, we can do it!

The heartbeat of First is steady and strong! We strive to be a caring and nurturing place that supports ministries internally and externally. Right now a major focus is on us in our church, our faith community, God’s house. He gives us the wisdom, the courage and the power to trust one another to do His good works to sustain ourselves as we pray about giving in those areas God has blessed us as we give back in a wealth of ways. Thank you for walking and talking with me on our faith journey, trusting and believing that our reality is: “With God all things are possible.”

Believing and trusting in Him,

Linda Van Ryn
